. : : Why Facebook is Dying

From the makers of the highly popular Myspace, Facebook was originally a site that mirrored Myspace's concept, but tried to address the common problems people had with it. Myspace has become the infrastructure for adolescents with no web design experience to make a homepage. As the site grew in popularity, more and more html and scripting permissions were allowed, causing the sites to become more and more complex. This, along with no design experience is a very bad combination.

Anyone who has ventured on to Myspace understands exactly what I mean by this. All the pages are jumbled with poor coding, clashing colours, multiple songs playing, and overlapping sections. The site greatly appealed to immature children and anyone brooding with the desire for attention, but for the rest of us normal folk who needed a place to keep in touch with friends, it did not provide the proper means.

Facebook was originally set up as a site for College and University students, looking to keep in touch with fellow classmates and alumni. You could create your profile, assemble a friends list, and do neat things like create an event and select who you want to invite to it. This would share the details of the event with the recipeients.

But like any money grubbing capitalist American whores, they sold out fast and hard. Advertising was originally just student classified ads such as a couch for sale, but has become a plague of advertising about other websites you can pay to keep in touch with classmates. Worse yet, they opened Facebook's doors to everyone, not just students. There is nothing more annoying than getting random invites from people you don't even know.

As the population of adolescents began to rise, whines and cries for more customizability grew. I logged in one day to see that I've been invited by people on my friends list to join "Xme", "Horoscopes" and goddamn "Glitter Text". It is not that those friends wanted me to have text that Glitters like the earrings of a two-cent southern whore, the assholes who designed the applications had it set by default to invite all of your friends too, unless specified otherwise.

Now Facebook is filled with people who abuse the use of applications, comment extensively on everyone's images, notes, and wall. They fill out countless quizzes about themselves and their friends, because of course, people this shallow clearly have friends who don't know a thing about them. The people Facebook now attracts are infected blisters on the Internet society, just begging to be popped. But that is another story in itself.

Facebook is dying because like its bigger little brother, it has sold its soul for a quick buck. Everything that made this site a practical and useful tool is slowly being turned upside down by the plague unleashed upon it. As the number of damaging users grows, Facebook is destined to become a wasteland of emoticon ads and angst-filled 9th graders, fuming with vitriol.

was on myspace in college. watched it crumble. found 350+ people i knew on facebook. realised that 10% of it was actually "communicating". $1 for a digital ninja ICON as a GIFT! Ya, that's definitley something i'd buy for a friend. I laughed my head off when i saw them asking for my money. I could do one better. Pay a buddy one buck to dress up as a ninja and go to the other persons house!

Down with the fake ninjas!

And especially; Down with tools that train us to be stupid mindless zombies!

Since myspace became a barren wasteland i have gone back. and its not as bad as it was. its kinda like a ghost town without all the invitations to use glitter text or do shots of alcohol and tell each person how sexy you think they are and then after bite somebody and make more zombies and hunt werewolves and...

...

...

f*&^ing facebook. P--- Me Off!

you'd sell your website if it was worth more than a hundred dollars, but its not even worth that because it has people like you writing for it. this isn't the special Olympics, take this weak s--- out of here.

whine more.

The reason it's dying is because all the myspace w----s are coming b/c they feel the need to be more into themselves and annoy more people for more comments and send out more bulletins about how they're bored.. Thats why.
